Lola Bell Bowens, 74, of Long Branch, Panola County, TX, passed away on Sunday morning, March 1, 2020, in Carthage, TX. Lola Bell Simpson was born on Sept. 17, 1945, in Long Branch to the late F.E. and Minnie Mae Tatum Simpson. She married Jim Bowens and he preceded her in death in 1972. Lola Bell had lived in Houston for many years before moving back home in the 1990's. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church and attended Shady Grove Baptist Church both in Long Branch.  Mrs. Bowens was preceded in death by her parents; husband; an infant son; and siblings, Bennie Ray Simpson, Billy Ray Simpson, L.C. Simpson, F.C. Simpson, Jewelene Allen, Darlene Short, and Ollie Bell Dunham.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Linda Bowens of Houston, Jim Bowens, Jr. of Houston, and Angela Davis and husband Jimmy of Carthage; sister, Merlene Jackson and husband James of Long Branch; 9 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Bowen.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Long Branch with Rev. W.T. Short officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Corinth Cemetery, Long Branch. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday at the church prior to the funeral service.

Pallbearers are Thomas Browning, Stanley Young, Billy Davis, Carnelius Lewis, Isaac Simpson and Charles Taylor.  Honorary pallbearers are Christopher Bowens, Eric Jay Bowens, Jerald Fransaw, Jim Jermaine and Roshad Washington.
