Obituary
A funeral service for Lois Barlow, 92, of Carthage, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Barlow passed away on Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, at her home near Carthage. Pastor Aaron Bequette and Rev. Greg Edwards will officiate. Keith Chapman will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park near Carthage. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Lois Naomi Hines Barlow was born on Feb. 15, 1922, in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Talmadge Terrell and Myrtle Cutshall Hines. She married Archie Clifford Barlow on Sept. 24, 1938. Together, they celebrated 64 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on June 3, 2003. Mrs. Barlow was also preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Austin and her son-in-law, Leon Townzen.
Mrs. Barlow earned her LVN degree and worked at Panola General Hospital until her retirement. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and nurse. She loved cooking, arts and crafts, crocheting, square dancing and was a former member of the Gingham and Jeans Square Dance Club. Lois and Clifford moved to Carthage in 1945, from Arkansas and became members of the Pisgah United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Barlow is survived by her son, Mickey Barlow and wife Linda of Carthage; her daughter, Vickie Townzen of Carthage; 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. Nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Barlow.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and nurses of Heart's Way Hospice for the loving care shown to Mrs. Barlow.
Pallbearers are great-grandsons, Alex Barlow, Zachary Barlow, Layne Koury, Andrew McReynolds, Spencer McReynolds and nephew, Gordon Huyser.
Honorary pallbearers are great-grandchildren, Ashley Barlow, Molly Barlow, Naomi Barlow, Taylor Barlow, Jacob Donnahoe, Joshua Hobson, Logan Hobson, Landon Koury, Lindy Koury, Kaylyn Porras, Carly Speir and Greyson Townzen.
