Linda Kay Sims was born on August 28, 1950, in Kansas City, Missouri, to the late Pickett McKerall Sims and Thelma Jean Harrington Sims. She graduated from high school in Warren, Texas, and continued her education at Lamar University, where she pursued studies in the medical field.

She enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a medical transcriptionist, dedicating many years to the healthcare field before her retirement. In 1989, she and her family made their home in Carthage after relocating from Linn, Texas.
Linda was an active member of the Carthage Service League, where she generously volunteered her time and talents in service to others. A woman of strong faith, she was of the Baptist tradition. Linda possessed a remarkable artistic gift and found great joy in painting, working in both oils and watercolors. She also enjoyed shopping, traveling, and creating lasting memories with family and friends.
Above all, Linda treasured her family. She was a devoted daughter, loving wife, caring mother, proud grandmother, cherished sister, and faithful friend. Her kindness, grace, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her beloved husband of more than 47 years, Marcos Salgado, Jr.; her children, Mindy Andrews and husband Bradley, and Marcos “Trey” Salgado; her treasured grandchildren, Eden and Connor Andrews; her brothers, Dale Sims and Clifford Sims (Bell); her sister-in-law, Debra Granger Sims; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many dear friends.
