Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Mae "Punch" Pierce, age 82, of Carthage, TX formerly of Willis, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Barney Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Pierce passed away on Sunday night, Nov. 13, 2011, in Carthage.
Lillie Mae "Punch" Hopper Pierce was born on Nov. 6, 1929, in Cotton Plant, Arkansas to Albert Price and Maggie Lou Basinger Hopper. She married Thomas Pleasant Pierce on Jan. 1, 1945, in Houston, TX. Mrs. Pierce loved fishing, yard work, and sewing. She was a member of the Calvary Road Baptist Church in Willis where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, served as the church treasurer, and was a devoted deacon's wife. Mrs. Pierce moved to Carthage in 2006, from Willis to be closer to her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Larry Thomas Pierce; one brother, Ernest Junior Hopper; and one sister, Mary Katherine Poor.
Mrs. Pierce is survived by her husband of 66 years, Tom Pierce of Carthage; one daughter, Sheran Bryant and husband Barney of Carthage; one sister, Betty Lou Middleton and husband Ronnie of Gilliam, LA; daughter-in-law, B.G. Pierce of Humble; seven grandchildren, Robin Smith and husband Michael, Lari "Dusty" Lilly and husband Garry, Tammy Sargent and husband Matt, Mandy Scott and husband Kevin, Michael Bryant and wife Jenny-Anne, Roxie Pierce, and Ranell Bryant; fifteen great-grandchildren, Jami, Garrett, Chandler, Holly, Shelley, Colton, Lucas, Ethan, Eden, Dawson, Hayden, Avery, Chason, Gavin, and Skylir; and one great-great grandchild, Ezekiel.
Serving as pallbearers are Michael Bryant, Michael Smith, Garry Lilly, Matt Sargent, John Derr, Ronnie Middleton, and Bill Middleton.
