Lillian Lee Brown, 90, of Carthage, passed away on Sunday July 23, 2017, in North Richland Hills. She was born on Jan. 4, 1927, in Greenwood Springs, MS to the late William A. and Ozella L. Tribble Jones. Mrs. Brown attended Panola College where she studied accounting. Lillian was an excellent cook and mostly enjoyed making wedding cakes and catering. She owned Brownie's Restaurant in Carthage from 1962-1976. She also owned Brownie's Bake Shop, a donut shop, and bought the Chick Inn Restaurant in 1980. Later in life she continued catering and baking wedding cakes, worked as a bookkeeper, and for Wal-Mart. She loved bowling, quilting, and handiwork. She was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she served as past Worthy Matron. Mrs. Brown was a member of Central Baptist Church where she was a member of the Maranatha Sunday School class. While visiting her daughter, they enjoyed attending PEO, NASCAR and Parrothead events. She was preceded in death by her parents; all of her siblings; an infant daughter; and her son, Joseph Earl Brown, who passed away in 2009.

Mrs. Brown is survived by her devoted daughter, Sherril of Bedford; grandson, Lance Brown and wife Haley of Vivian; and great-grandson, Hunter Brown.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kim Hagedorn officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the memorial service.
