Obituary

Lester Olden Nagle, Jr, 66, of Punxsutawney, PA, formerly of Carthage, TX, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, January 10, 2018, in Punxsutawney. He was born on February 2, 1951, in Painesville, OH to the late Lester Olden Nagle, Sr. and Arbutus Mary Heartline Nagle. Lester graduated from Madison Township High School in Ohio with the class of 1968. He married Marlene Sue Bunker on August 27, 2004 in Palestine, Tx. Mr. Nagle served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict and was honorably discharged. He started a career in law enforcement serving his communities in Madison Village, OH in September of 1973. He also worked at the Carthage Police Department from August of 1982 until June of 1990. As well working for the Longview Police Department from February 1992 until he retired in 2003. Mr. Nagle also worked for Denton Police Department, Tatum Police Department, and Flatonia Police Department. Mr. Nagle was preceded in death by his parents and his youngest brother, Robert Keith Nagle.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene Nagle of Punxsutawney; sons, Jeremy Nagle and fiancé Lindsey and Joshua Nagle both of Carthage; daughters, Jamie Nagle of Longview and Lesley Brown of Hillsboro, IL; brother, Bill Nagle and wife Shirley of Madison, OH; sister Ruth Kleps and husband James of Ashtabula, OH; and four grandchildren, Austin Ward and wife McKenzie, Madison Brown, Gunnar Black and Lydia Black. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018 at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Carthage with Dr. Dale Reed officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers are Jeremy Nagle, Joshua Nagle, Austin Ward, Michael Jones, Greg Almeida, and Kevin Lake.

Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be James Elton Williams.
