Leonard Hill Cadenhead of DeBerry, Texas went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at the age of 101 in Brandon, Mississippi. Leonard was born April 17, 1920, in Midyett, Texas to Roy & Ella Cadenhead. He worked on the family farm until entering the U.S. Army in 1942 and obtained the rank of Tech Sgt. He participated in five major campaigns in Europe during WWII including D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge before leaving the service in 1945. While serving in England, Leonard met Eileen Kingston, and they married on December 10, 1945. Leonard worked for ArkLa Gas Company and retired after 32 years of service. He was a deacon at DeBerry Baptist Church for many years. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Travis and Roy Jr and two sisters, Sue Klacker and Jenny Mae Shadowens. Mr. Cadenhead is survived by his wife Eileen of 75 years and his sons, Royston Cadenhead and wife Dawn of Spring, Texas, George Cadenhead and wife Beckey of Waskom, Texas and Roderick Cadenhead and wife Pamela of Brandon, Mississippi; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. He was a great husband, father, and friend. He loved gardening and carpentry. He loved his God and his country.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 12 noon, Monday, January 3, 2022, at DeBerry Baptist Church in DeBerry, Texas. A funeral service will be held at DeBerry Baptist Church at 12 noon with Rev Eric Wilburn officiating. Interment will follow at DeBerry Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
