Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. Leo Hooker, age 63 of Carthage, Texas, will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the First Assembly Church of God in Christ with Bishop Hubert Owens officiating. Interment will follow in the Holland's Quarters Cemetery. Mr. Hooker will lie in state 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Hooker passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 in Tyler.

Leo Hooker was born on March 2, 1944 in Panola County, Texas to R. T. and Lorene Beck Hooker. Mr. Hooker married Eula Faye Session. He had lived his lifetime in Panola County and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Hooker was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one daughter, Vickie Hooker; and two brothers, Vernon and Charles Hooker.

Mr. Hooker is survived by six sons, Stevie, Rickey, Craig, Van, Artie, and Marcus Hooker all of Nacogdoches; one daughter, Von Hooker of Nacogdoches; four brothers, James Hooker and wife Yvonne of California, Billy Lynn Hooker of Dallas, Robert Hooker of Carthage, and Roy Hooker of Dallas; and six sisters, Nellie Brewster and husband Oscar of Carthage, Betty Hall of Dallas, Cleo Staten and husband Daniel of Carthage, Doris Jean Hooker of Dallas, Doris Pope of Dallas, and Peggy Thompson and husband Elvin of Carthage. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mr. Hooker.
