Lee Roy Longshore, 79, of Carthage, Texas, passed away on Thursday evening, July 6, 2023, in Panola County. He was born on October 18, 1943, in Carthage, Texas to the marriage of Lester Creed and Mattie Mae Cochran Longshore. Lee Roy was raised in Carthage and attended Beckville and Carthage schools. He worked many years as a ranch foreman for Dr. Jack Sanders in Marshall, Texas, and later for Don Griffith Construction before retiring from R. Lacy, Inc. Lee Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Mattie Longshore; and brothers, Billy Nathan and Joe Ervin Longshore.

He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Janie Longshore; daughter and son-in-law, Alan and Tracey Smith; grandchildren and spouses, Ross and Megan Longshore, Garrett and Tiffany Smith, and Brandon and Ali Smith; and great-grandchildren, Aeris Longshore and Rhett Smith.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 10, 2023, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Joe Cox and Bro. Jerry Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at New Prospect Cemetery in Beckville. A time of visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Bubba Coleman, Danny Joe Coleman, Lee Briggs, Steve Bishop, Rodney Kirkland, and Gary Dumas. Honorary Pallbearers are Mike Coleman, Dub Wright, Bobby Pellum, Jackie Smith, Tommy Cox, and John DeWitt.
