Funeral services for Mrs. Latina Doris Bush, age 89, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 25, 2012, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Steve Wiggins and Bro. Jeff Asher officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park near Carthage. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Bush passed away on Wednesday night, March 21, 2012, in Carthage.
Latina Doris Mathews Bush was born on July 11, 1922, in Hammon, OK to Chester Oram and Ophie Hall Morrow Mathews. She graduated from Pie Flat High School in Pie Flat Community in rural Oklahoma. Mrs. Bush married Floyd Freeman Bush on Jan. 17, 1941, in Elk City, OK. Together, they celebrated over 66 years of marriage, always working as a team whether it was picking cotton, working the chicken houses, or as owners of the Carthage Locker Plant. Mr. and Mrs. Bush moved to Carthage in 1954, from Butler, OK. She was involved in the community where she taught Blue Birds and was a Camp Fire Leader for many years. Mrs. Bush loved to crochet, working in the yard, and gardening. She loved to sing, especially with her grandchildren and she always went out of her way to make the holidays special for her family. Mrs. Bush was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Carthage. Mrs. Bush was a great Christian woman, taught Sunday school at her church for many years, and set the Christian example for her family by the life that she led and the example she set. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers; and two sisters.
Mrs. Bush is survived by two sons, Floyd Eugene Bush and wife Vicki of Livingston and James Marlin Bush and wife Sharon of Carthage; two daughters, Lorene Bush Rhiddlehoover and husband Jim of Carthage and Deanna Bush McKnight and husband Larry of Carthage; one brother, Orville Mathews and wife Ada of Washington State; one sister, Colene Trent and husband Billy of Elk City, OK; twelve grandchildren, Lori Rhiddlehoover Urban and husband Rodney, Shelly Bush Sitton and husband Johnny, Rachael Rhiddlehoover Jackson and husband Brad, Staci Bush Davis and husband Mark, Janan Bush Moore and husband Mark, Jimmy Rhiddlehoover, Jr. and wife Joy, Amy Bush Clinton and husband Don, Jeff McKnight, David Bush and wife Jana, Mark Bush and wife Jenny, Kiley Bush Schumacher and husband Shawn, and Melissa McKnight; and 32 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Judy Stallone and the entire staff at Marian Place in Carthage as well as the nurses and staff of Hospice of East Texas for the loving care given to Mrs. Bush.
Serving as pallbearers are Mrs. Bush's grandsons, Jimmy Rhiddlehoover, Jr., Jeff McKnight, David Bush, Mark Bush, Rodney Urban, Mark Davis, Don Clinton, Shawn Schumacher, Mark Moore, Johnny Sitton, and Brad Jackson.
