Larry Wayne Hunt, 85, of Carthage, TX, passed away on Wednesday morning, June 1, 2022, in Tyler, TX. He was born on Oct. 19, 1936, in Mission, TX to the late Clifford T. and Bonnie Mae Crownover Hunt. Mr. Hunt graduated from Mission High School with the class of 1955. He later earned a Bachelor's Degree from Phillips University in Enid, OK. Mr. Hunt served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955-1959, at which time he was honorably discharged. He married Ruth Elaine Warner on Aug. 11, 1961, in Mission. Mr. Hunt worked for Dowell/Schlumberger in the oil field in sales and training, retiring after 25 years. He also owned and operated Grandpa's Berry Farm in Clayton, TX for many years. Mr. Hunt enjoyed farming and gardening. He moved to Carthage in 1978, from Houma, LA and was a charter member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Gary, TX.

Mr. Hunt is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ruth Hunt; children, Greg Hunt and wife Robin Watson and Valarie Hunt; siblings, Don Hunt and wife Judy, Judy Rudolph, and Bobbie Jean Zurfluh; grandchildren, Misti Webster and husband Nathan, Amanda Hunt, April Waite and husband Nick, Abby Holly, and Rylee Storm; and great-grandchildren, Makaela Hinkle, Hunter Holly, and Ripp Holly.

A graveside service with Military honors will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 6, 2022, at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Carthage with Rev. Steve Jackson officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
