Larry A. Davidson, 73, of Carthage, Texas passed away Friday, August 26, 2022 in Longview, Texas. Larry was born August 7, 1949 in Lindale, Texas to Albert and Julia (Judy) Brown Davidson. The family was employed in farm work and settled in Terrell, Texas, their hometown. The family moved to Tyler in 1954 for better job opportunities. Larry attended public schools and graduated from John Tyler High School in 1968. He joined the U.S. Air Force immediately following graduation and served four years during the Vietnam War. He was based in San Antonio and Taiwan, returning to San Antonio where he had a family. Larry completed the LVN program at St. Phillips College in 1975, and worked at Baptist Hospital until he moved back to Tyler in 1978 to accept a position with Schlumberger Wireline Service. A short time later Schlumberger transferred him to Carthage. Larry married Sarah Berryman Britt on August 15, 1981 in Tyler and they made their home in Carthage. He also worked for other oil field related companies in Tyler and Carthage until he completed the HVAC program at Tyler Junior College in 1996. Larry retired in 2011 and was an active member of Central Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, working in his shop and attending his grandchildren's events. Larry also volunteered for Mission Carthage and New Destinations, Inc. building ramps. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Davidson; his dad, Ray Brewer; mother, Julia Brewer; and brother, Roger Davidson
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Sarah Davidson of Carthage; daughters, Renee Davidson of San Antonio, Tasha Hernandez and husband Adrian of Omaha, Nebraska, and Kimberly Dolese and husband Kenny of Nacogdoches; son, John Britt and wife Mitzi of Tyler; granddaughters, Alex Shoults and husband Larry of Shelbyville, Briana Thomas of New York City, Simone Thomas of Kansas City, Paige Britt of Tyler; grandsons, Ty Britt of Tyler, Dayne Thomas of Lincoln, Nebraska; and great-granddaughter, Taylor Jean Shoults. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at the Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Rehobeth Cemetery. Visitation will be at 10-11 a.m. on Saturday prior to the service.
Pallbearers are Mike Worm, Kenny Dolese, David Anderson, Cliff Todd, Ralph Todd, and Dennis Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Danny Milam, Frank Sepaugh, Sammy Moore, Buddy Gossett, Craig Gibbs, and Buddy Hammonds.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Isaiah 58 Fund at Central Baptist Church.
