A funeral service for LaMarcus Jamaine Scott, 30, of Carthage, will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. A. L. Sims and Pastor Hazel Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Tabernacle-Shiloh Cemetery near Beckville. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. LaMarcus passed away on Monday, Jan. 12, 2015.
LaMarcus Jamaine Scott was born on Aug. 4, 1984, in Houston to Mark Anthony and Stephanie Annette Pope Scott. He graduated from Carthage High School in 2003, where he participated in tennis and basketball. He attended Panola College. LaMarcus loved animals, especially his dogs. At an early age, LaMarcus was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church and more recently attended Love Temple Outreach where he sang in the choir. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Wallace Sanford and his grandfather, Bennie Pope, Jr.
LaMarcus is survived by his parents, Stephanie Greenwood Henderson of Carthage and Mark Scott of Garland; grandparents, Johnnie and Elijah Collier, Jr. of Carthage, Joyce and Bobby Rayson of Dallas, and LeeRoy W. Scott of Detroit; three brothers, Marese Scott, Ben Allen Scott, and Markist Scott; five sisters, Sharonda Greenwood, LaVera Greenwood, Brittney Scott, Breunna Greenwood, and Alyssa Scott; and aunts and uncles, Eva and Arthur Campbell, Joyce M. Sanford, Keshia Scott, Bruce Rayson, Kim and Yewrist Deramus, Linda Collier, and Regina Collier. Numerous great-aunts, great-uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive LaMarcus.
