Obituary

Graveside services for Rev. L.W. Humber, age 84, of Gary, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Apr. 13, 2012, at Mt. Bethel Cemetery near Gary with Bro. Dale Walker and Dr. P.A. DuBose officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Rev. Humber passed away on Wednesday morning, Apr. 11, 2012, in Tyler, TX.

Louie Wytman (L.W.) Humber was born on Jan. 15, 1928, in Winfield, AL to Robert Albert and Jenny Bell Byers Humber. He graduated from Winfield, AL High School and attended Southeastern Baptist College in Laurel, Mississippi. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was honorably discharged. Rev. Humber married Lita Faye May on Dec. 21, 1947, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 19, 1981. He was a longtime Baptist minister and he pastored many churches including Paramount Baptist Church in Wiggins, Mississippi, Oak Street Baptist Church in Clovis, NM, Shawnee Village Baptist Church in Henderson, TX, First Baptist Church in Gary, TX, Green Springs Baptist Church in Guin, AL, and Mt. Bethel Baptist Church near Gary, TX. Rev. Humber moved to Gary in 1969, from Henderson and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and one sister.

Rev. Humber is survived by five children, Reynold Humber and wife Sheila of Henderson, Debbie Heflin and husband Marshall of Marshall, Greg Humber and wife Janet of Tyler, Tim Humber and wife Tammy of Gary, and David Humber and wife Anita of Abilene; two siblings, Wyman Humber and Mildred Moore both of Winfield, AL; twelve grandchildren, Blake Humber and wife Christina, Emily Johns and husband Blake, Brian Heflin and wife Tangi, Joel Heflin and wife Michelle, Jonathan Heflin and wife Courtney, Philip Humber and wife Kristan, Jason Humber and wife Angela, Lindsey Stephenson and husband Grant, Dennis Humber and wife Brandy, Kathrine Woolridge and husband Josh, Brittany Humber, and Ethan Humber and wife Jordan; and sixteen great-grandchildren and three on the way. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Rev. Humber.

Serving as pallbearers are Blake Humber, Brian Heflin, Joel Heflin, Jonathan Heflin, Jason Humber, Dennis Humber, Ethan Humber, and Philip Humber.
