Funeral services for Mr. Kenneth Wayne Denniston, age 66, of Carthage, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, 2009 at Central Baptist Church in Carthage with Reverend Steve Jackson officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park near Carthage. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Denniston passed away on Wednesday evening, July 1, 2009, at his home near Carthage.
Kenneth Wayne Denniston was born on October 2, 1942, in San Antonio, Texas to Claude H. and Bobbie Madeline Dodson Denniston. He graduated from South Oak Cliff High School with the class of 1961. Mr. Denniston married Marie Hill on September 29, 1972. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. Mr. Denniston worked for Texas Utilities Generating Company, retiring in 1998 after 32 years. He was an active Gideon for about 15 years, where he served as vice-president, in the Carthage chapter. Mr. Denniston was a member of Central Baptist Church of Carthage and he and his wife were active in Mission work. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Denniston is survived by his wife, Marie; three daughters, Stephonie Denniston of Dallas, Rae Denniston Hill and husband Ian of Frisco, and Helen McEwen and husband Grant of The Woodlands; two brothers, Lloyd Denniston and wife Janice of Highland Village and Richard Denniston and wife Lawana of Red Oak; one sister, Alice Bumpass of Dallas; and one grandchild, Ivy Madeline Hill of Frisco, TX. Many friends also survive Mr. Denniston.
Serving as pallbearers are Dennis Smith, John Boland, Ralph Marshall, Dennis Jordan, Chad Abernathy and Stan Davis.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Jerry McMath, David Pyle, James McNatt and Herb Hudson.
