Worth Polytechnic High School with the class of 1956, and attended UT Arlington. She lived most of her life in Ft. Worth where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Richard Lee Watkins, in 1957. Together they enjoyed life in Austin, Ft. Worth, Chicago, and Denver. She worked for the Eagle Mountain/Saginaw School District as the Registrar at the High School until her retirement. Kay pursued many activities, including sewing, painting, and egg cup collecting. She enjoyed life to the fullest with her family and many friends, grandchildren, and particularly her church. After moving to Carthage from Ft. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 54 years, Richard L. Watkins of Carthage; son, Richard Douglas Watkins of Ft. Worth; daughter, Darcy Kay Lerner and husband David of Harleysville, PA; sister, Joan Qualls of Rockwall; and two grandchildren, Haley Kay and Gina Roslynn Lerner. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Watkins.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff of Hospice of East Texas in Tyler and Briarcliff Health Care Center in Carthage for their wonderful and caring services. The family would also like to thank the members of Kay's Sunday School Class at the First Baptist Church of Saginaw who were so kind and visited her often at her home in Ft. Worth.
