Kay Schalck, 85, of the Riderville Community in Panola County, Texas, passed away on Saturday night, January 25, 2025, at her home in Riderville after a brief illness. Kay Fern Gressett was born on March 14, 1939, in Ferris, Texas to the late William Arthur and Ruth Agnes Hamm Gressett. She was also raised by her beloved step-father, the late Wayne R. Holamon. She graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in Dallas with the class of 1956. Kay married Elvis Jackson "Buck" Schalck on June 5, 1981, and he preceded her in death on January 15, 1992. In Dallas, Kay worked for many years at Budget Rent-a-Car and for Southland Insurance Company. She was also employed by the Ft Worth ISD as a cook at Bellaire Elementary School. In 1981, she moved to Carthage where she worked as a caregiver, aide and sitter in the healthcare industry and most recently at Winkler House before her retirement. Kay was also preceded in death by a grandson, William Christopher Bullock and a son, David W. Bullock.

Kay loved her Lord and attended Grand Bluff Baptist Church regularly. She was an amazing cook and one way she enjoyed showing her affection was to bake for her friends and family. Her pies and pralines were her most requested but she was also famous for her homemade macaroni and cheese. She loved her family with all of her heart and was fond of spending time with her special cousins Reggie and Debbie Drain of Dallas.

She is survived by her son, Gaynne D. "Chip" Bullock and wife Rachel of the Riderville Community; daughter, Gaynell Bullock of Maryland; and grandchildren Chelsi, Kaylee, and Kaide Bullock all of Riderville; Amanda Spence of Ft Worth; Monica Bullock of Colorado; Christine Powell of DFW and Eric Boothe of Maryland. Kay is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Caleb Wallace and Quinn Spence. Kay leaves many special friends to treasure her memory as well.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2025, at Restland Memorial Park with Bro. Dale Gary officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Chip Bullock, Kaide Bullock, Willie Brooks, Jimmy Welch, Chad Wynn, and Trey Harthcock.
