Katherine Nell "Tweetty" Newman, 70, of Carthage, Texas, passed away Saturday evening July 26, 2025, in Tyler, Texas. She was born August 29, 1954 in Jonesville, Louisiana to the late John Archie and Vivian Emmons Prudhomme. Tweetty married Eldon Newman on October 3, 1970 in Harrisonburg, Louisiana and together they celebrated nearly 55 years. She was a homemaker, enjoyed going to the beach and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. Tweetty was a member of the Sanctuary of Pentecost in Carthage where she loved spending time with her church family. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her sister, Penny Roberson; and brothers, Pete Prudhomme, Joe Prudhomme and William "Rooster" Prudhomme.

Survivors include her husband Eldon Newman; daughters, Crystal Stephenson and husband Jack, Jeannie McClure and husband Rod, Joni Jones and husband J.D.; grandchildren, Blane Stephenson, Brady Stephenson, Christian McClure, Chandler McClure, Zachary Jones, Colton Jones and Kenna Jones; great grandson, Waylon Jones; sisters, Betty Morris and husband J.D., Ann Brown, and Patty Walker and husband Marvin. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends also survive Mrs. Newman.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at the Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dennis Landtroop and Bro. Michael Tibbs officiating. Burial will follow in the Restland Memorial Park Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Blane Stephenson, Brady Stephenson, Christian McClure, Chandler McClure, Zachary Jones and Colton Jones. Honorary pallbearers are Dylan Widner, Rowdy Fountain, Denny Brown and Matthew Newman.
