Karen Poole, 74, of Carthage, TX, passed away on Tuesday evening, Sept. 20, 2022, at her home in Carthage. Karen Ann Darnell was born on Aug. 3, 1948, in Shreveport, LA to the late Gordon Louis and Mary Evelyn Harwood Darnell. She graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1966. Karen earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master's degree in Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. She married Don Wylie Poole on May 25, 1974, at her parent's home in Carthage. This May marked 48 years of marriage. Karen had a long devoted career in education where she touched the lives of numerous children. She was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church and served in the church library for a number of years. Karen thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her lifelong friend, Susan Schieffer. Together, they loved shopping, K&S sewing, and spending time with grandchildren. Karen was also preceded in death by her son, Clint Poole and her brother, Drew Darnell.

She is survived by her husband, Don Poole; daughter, Julie Poole Cameron and husband Ranick; sister-in-law, Donna Darnell; and grandchildren, Sawyer, Marinn, Harper, and Gavin Cameron.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23, 2022, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Jackson and Dr. Monty Pierce officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.

Pallbearers are Sawyer Cameron, Chad Darnell, Daryl Darnell, Justin Morton, Scott Schieffer, and Dominic Sherpy.

Honorary pallbearer is Ranick Cameron.
