June Reeves Smylie, 89, of Floresville, TX, formerly of Carthage, passed away on June 19, 2018. She was born on June 1, 1929, in Carthage to the late J. Weldon and Monsie Crawford Reeves, and that is where she grew up. Mother to her kids and Granny to her seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren June embraced the life of a housewife and managed the household and her children as her husband's NASA career took him from California to Houston, to Massachusetts, back to Houston and finally to Washington, D.C. She was a wonderful cook and her meals spoiled her children for lesser fare. Wherever home was at the time she loved her yard and always made sure it was full of interesting plants and flowers of all types. Her marriage to Ed ended in divorce and she then focused her life in service as a faithful and determined witness and as a prayer warrior, and in this way, she touched many lives. She settled in the San Antonio area a few years ago to be near her daughter, Susan. Mrs. Smylie was preceded in death by her brother, James "Sonny" Reeves and her daughter-in-law, Patricia Smylie.
Survivors include her son, Steven Smylie of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina; daughter, Susan Smylie of Floresville, Texas; daughter, Lisa Willis (Geoff) of Jones, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and five nieces and two nephews, including her niece Carole Reeves who held a special place in her heart.
