Melba June Nutt, 87, of Carthage, Texas, formerly of Beckville, Texas passed away in Longview, Texas on Saturday, January 18, 2025, after lengthy illness. She was born in the Sandhills Community of Beckville, Texas on April 10, 1937, to Clifford and Inez Porter Weaver. June attended Beckville school, graduating as Valedictorian in 1955. She continued her education at Panola College, then Stephen F. Austin State University, obtaining her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Business and Education. June also continued her post graduate studies at the University of Texas in Austin. She made a life-long career of being an Educator, both as a public school teacher, as well as working for the University of Texas in Austin, Texas, and Panola College in Carthage, Texas. June was active with UIL during her time with the University of Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Larry, Phillip and Hershel Weaver.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Dr. Andrew Todd Nutt; daughters and sons-in-law, Becky Austin and husband Don of Beckville and Cristie Ferguson and husband Dwayne of Carthage; granddaughters, Amy Parrish and husband Reece of Baytown, Texas and Kimberly Rossiter and husband Jeff of Fort Worth, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Heath, Case Parrish, Declan Parrish and Reid Rossiter. She is also survived by her sister Jane Cammack of Beckville. June is remembered by her many extended family members.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bob Scott and Rev. Steve Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Martin Cemetery with Dr. Viktor Roudkovski officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Don Austin, Dwayne Ferguson, Reece Parrish, Jeff Rossiter, Kirk Weaver, and Chris Cammack.
Honorary pallbearers are Case Parrish, Declan Parrish, and Reid Rossiter.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dr. Andrew and June Nutt Scholarship, at Panola College or to Martin Cemetery.
