Obituary

Allie June Eason Arnold passed into the hands of her Heavenly Father on December 5, 2025. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held in the chapel of Jimerson Lipsey Funeral Home on Monday, December 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Steve Jackson officiating. Visitation will precede the service at 10:00 a.m.

June was born on November 12, 1935, in Arkansas, to Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Eason. The Eason family relocated to Carthage, Texas, in 1944 where she attended fourth grade at Baker-Koonce and later graduated from Carthage High School in 1953 before attending Panola College.

In 1954, she married the love of her life, Eugene "Sug" Arnold. She and Sug were devout members of Central Baptist Church for over 50 years, where she taught children in Sunday school for many years and served actively in many other capacities. June and Sug were three months shy of celebrating 60 years of marriage when he passed in February 2014. June devoted many loving years to caring for him. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brother Floyce Eason.

June is survived by one daughter, Terri Morton, of Shreveport, Louisiana. She was a cherished grandmother to Kristi Downing and her husband Nathan of Rockwall, Texas,  Laura Morton and her husband Wes Crossland of Austin, Texas, and Patrick Morton and his wife Brittney of Dubberly, Louisiana. She is also survived by her  brother, Jerry Eason of Longview, Texas. June was blessed with five great-grandchildren: Carson, Claire, Addison, Macie, and Allie, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She deeply adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Mema June."

June had a great passion for children. She volunteered with the Panola County Camp Fire Program, serving as a troop leader for 12 years and as registrar for many years, in addition to working with the summer youth program. She was honored with a lifetime membership in the Parent Teachers' Association for her dedication to the youth of Panola County.

June began her 28-year career with the Carthage Independent School District (CISD) in 1974. She initially assisted with special needs students on the Turner Junior High Campus. She then transitioned to the Baker-Koonce office before accepting the role of administrative assistant, office manager, and community liaison for the Superintendent and School Board for 21 years. She was recognized as a dedicated employee, receiving the Employee of the Year Award in 1982, and upon her retirement was honored with a Key to the City by the Mayor. June was also a founding and active member of both the CISD Educational Foundation and the CISD Alumni Association. Much of her life was dedicated to helping others and loving children.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carthage Education Foundation, #1 Bulldog Drive, Carthage, Texas, 75633.
