Juanita Bush, 96, of Gary, TX, passed away on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 9, 2021, at her home in Gary. Juanita Pearl Haley was born on March 26, 1925, in Roscoe, TX to the late Levi and Berdie Carter Haley. She attended Mt. Bethel School in Gary and graduated from Gary High School. Juanita married Ollen Hillary Bush on March 13, 1943, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1953. Mrs. Bush worked for many years at Gary I.S.D. in the cafeteria and later at Carthage Cup. She also worked as a sitter and caregiver until her retirement. Mrs. Bush was a lifetime member of Mt. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church near Gary. She was preceded in death by a son, Carrol Lynn Bush; daughters, Betty Jean Griffith and Brenda Faye Pierce; and sisters, Mildred Marie Haley and Joy Faye Fields.

She is survived by her son, David Bush and wife Sherry of Gary; grandchildren, Ronnette Cooke, Leigh Ransom and husband Greg, Steven Bush and wife Kim, Eric Bush and wife Shannon, Joanna Endsley and husband Joel, and Joe D. Pierce and wife Amy; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and special friend, Rosa Parks.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2021, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Levi Cohorst officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Bethel Cemetery near Gary. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Texas Home Health and Heart's Way Hospice, and caregivers, Kathy Jackson, Hazel Pellum, Clovis Matlock, Montana Jones, and Lashunda Starks.

Pallbearers are Greg Ransom, Tanner Ransom, Ty Ransom, Nathan Bush, Eric Bush, and Kenny Thorson.
