J.T. McQuary, 89, of Carthage, Texas, passed away on Friday morning, April 24, 2020, at his home in Carthage. He was born on March 3, 1931, in Kerens, Navarro County, Texas to the late J. F. and Dora Thelma Reese McQuary. J.T. served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He married Veda Carol Ritcheson on November 9, 1954. Mr. McQuary worked as a welder in the Pipeline Industry until his retirement. He moved to Carthage in 2010, from Roswell, New Mexico and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. McQuary was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Royce McQuary.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Veda McQuary of Carthage; children, Marcy Kruchkow and husband Mark of West Virginia, Steven McQuary and wife Donna of Beckville, and Tamaria Kester of Carthage; sister, Joyce Dean and husband Walter of Jefferson; sister-in-law, Ruby McQuary of Ohio; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Mr. McQuary's ashes will be interred at Youngblood Cemetery near Beckville. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
