Funeral services for Mr. J.T. Hill, age 89, of Carthage, TX will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 7, 2010, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Arnold Shrewsbury and Bro. Bob Scott officiating. Interment will follow in Youngblood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Hill passed away on Saturday morning, June 5, 2010, in Carthage.

J.T. Hill was born on August 29, 1920, in Beckville, TX to Elmer and Lela Riddle Hill. He graduated from Beckville High School. Mr. Hill served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was honorably discharged. He married Lila Mae Sparks May 12, 1951, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 15, 1994. In his earlier years, he worked for Farmers Merchant Cotton Gin, Compress, and Warehouse Co. in Paris and Sulpher Springs for 3 years. He then worked at Arizona Cotton Gin and Compress Warehouse Co. in Eloy, Arizona for 4 years. In 1972, Mr. Hill moved back to Panola County where he worked for the Panola County Road and Bridge Dept. for 18 and a half years until his retirement. He was a member of the Youngblood Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Hill was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Paul Hill.

Mr. Hill is survived by his son, Mike Hill and wife Neva of O'Fallon, Missouri; one sister, Rachel Hill Dennis of Burkburnett; one grandson, Jonathan Hill; one niece, Susie Nix of Burkburnett; and two nephews, Danny and Tim Dennis of Austin.
