Obituary

Funeral services for Mrs. Joye Page Sutton, age 89 of Palestine, TX, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 4, 2008 at Herrrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home Chapel with Judge Melvin Whitaker and Rev. Bruce Hay officiating. Interment will follow at the Palestine City Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home on Monday. Mrs. Sutton passed away on Friday night, August 1, 2008 in Palestine, Texas.

Joye Welcome Page Sutton was born on June 17, 1919 in Dallas, TX to William Kinchen and Margaret Lawless Tadlock Page of the Snap Community in Panola County, TX. She graduated from Tyler High School with the class of 1937 and graduated from Tyler Commercial College. She married Miles Cone "Bud" Sutton on March 25, 1941 in Jacksonville, TX. Mrs. Sutton volunteered for the Meals on Wheels program and was a member of the Harvey Women's Club. She moved to Palestine in 1957 from Tyler. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Palestine and the Victor Sunday School Class. Mrs. Sutton was preceded in death by her husband on June 11, 1983 and one brother, William Kinchen Page, Jr.

Mrs. Sutton is survived by her son, Miles Stephen Sutton and wife Lou of Athens; three daughters, Sarah Page Sutton "Sallie" Lipsey and husband Don of Carthage, Lecil Elizabeth Sutton Peery and husband Mike of Palestine, and Laura Ann Sutton King and husband Bob of Marshall; one brother, Ned Page of Fredericksburg; nine grandchildren, Page Elizabeth Sutton Motes and husband James of Houston, Hillary Elizabeth Lipsey of Houston, Zebulun Christopher Peery and fiancé Amanda Rejcek of Austin, Stuart James Lipsey and wife Brooke of Carthage, Katherine Elizabeth Peery of Austin, Mary Margaret King of Marshall, Douglas Robert King of Bryan, Jodie Pierce and husband Thomas of Allen, and Jeffrey Clint Lipsey and wife Julie of Flint; and eight great-grandchildren, Sutton James Motes, Spencer Merrill Motes, Olivia Stuart Lipsey, Caroline Elizabeth Pierce, Benjamin Robert and Jackson Thomas Pierce, and Evan and Ethan Lipsey. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Sutton.

Mrs. Sutton's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
