Joseph "Joe" Pate, 63, of Carthage, passed away on Tuesday morning, Nov. 29, 2016, in Tyler. He was born on May 12, 1953, in Dallas to the late Cleveland and Josephine Holt Pate. He graduated from Palm Springs High School with the class of 1971. He worked as a carpenter in the Carthage area most of his life. Joe loved the Dallas Cowboys, music and dancing, and adored his family and friends. He lived most of his life in the Carthage area and was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Palm Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Darnell Brown; sister, Pam Boyce; and twin sister, Josephine Pate.
Survivors include siblings, Ola Roberts of Palm Springs, Carl Edward Boyce of Dallas, and Cheryl Boyce of Dallas.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Hubert Owens officiating. Interment will follow in Holland's Quarter Cemetery. Mr. Pate will lie in state from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Vecchio Lewis, Kip Hodge, Byron Roberts, Desmund Hicks, Sr., James Ware, Larry Pipkins, John Oscar Boyd, and Jeff Pope. Honorary pallbearers Clyde Holt, Corey Holt, James Chadwick, Charles Hodge, James Owens, GeGe Hodge, Al Hill, Patrick Kellum, and Kevin Tatum.
