A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Jose Refugio Esqueda, age 69, of Gary, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at St. William of Vercelli Catholic Church in Carthage with Father Jesudoss Thomas officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park near Carthage. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 5-7 p.m. followed by a rosary service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Esqueda passed away on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 25, 2012, in Carthage.

Jose Refugio Esqueda was born on May 30, 1943, in Belen de Refugio, Jalisco, Mexico to Cosme and Gabriela Cruz Esqueda. Mr. Esqueda worked for Trendsetter Construction in the oil field industry until his retirement. He loved hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. Mr. Esqueda loved his family and friends dearly. He moved to the area in 1963, from Belen de Refugio and was a member of the St. William of Vercelli Catholic Church in Carthage. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Esqueda is survived by his wife, Benita Montealvo Esqueda of Gary; two sons, Luis Esqueda and Brandi Mims of Carthage and Jimmy Esqueda of Virginia; two sisters, Angela Lopez and Sirila Esqueda both of Belen de Refugio; and two grandchildren, Joseph and Kaegan Esqueda.

Serving as pallbearers are Jimmy Esqueda, Luis Esqueda, Ernesto Gomez, Jose Montealvo, Pablo Morales, and Arnoldo Martinez.
