Obituary

JoNell Pipkins was born on March 18, 1945, in Carthage, TX to Joseph Reese who preceded her in death and Mable Pipkins. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and a pillar of the community. She peacefully left this world on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 28, 2023, in Tyler, TX, at the age of 78, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and service.

In addition to her late father, Jonell was also preceded in death by her later husband, John Ester Pipkins; her sisters, Ora E. Harden and Gloria Reese; and great-grand babies, Hope and Faith Henderson.

Jonell is survived by her mother, Mable Pipkins; her common-law spouse, Mr. Phillip Walls; her sons, John Pipkins (Lahoma), Kenneth Pipkins (Evon), Raydell Pipkins (Shanon), and Michael Pipkins (Vonda); daughters, Priscilla Henderson (Kemmy), Sandra Pipkins, and special daughter, Sameatra Wells (Roy) all of Carthage; brothers, Thomas Reese, Otis Reese, Gene Reese, Joel Reese, Goldess Reese, Andre Reese, and Tim Reese; sister, Faye Gates (Billy) of Henderson; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren who she adored; her girls, Sylvia Jean, Bert Ann, Romekia, and a host of other loving family members.

Jonell was not just a mother to her six children, she was a source of unwavering support, guidance, and boundless affection to so many. Her dedication to her family was unparalleled, her compassion was an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever be felt and cherished. In addition to her roles as a devoted mother and grandmother, Jonell dedicated many years of her life to the Panola General Hospital until an unforeseen accident that left her unable to return to work. Jonell may no longer be with us in flesh, but her memory will live on in the hearts and minds of all those she touched. She will be deeply missed and her impact on our community will be felt for generations to come. Rest in peace our dear NuNu, and thank you for the immeasurable love and warmth you brought into our lives.

Now we do not want you to be uniformed, believers, about those who are asleep (in death), so that you will not grieve as the others do who have no hope (beyond this present life). For if we believe that Christ died and rose again (as in fact He did), even so God (in this same way—by raising them from the dead) will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Christ. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-13
