Jon Patrick Morris

Jon Morris, 76, of Beckville, Texas, passed away on Monday morning, July 6, 2026, in Carthage. Jon Patrick Morris was born on August 1, 1949, in the Waterman's Front Community of Panola County, Texas, to the late Clifton Baker and Fredna Jean Pierce Morris.

Jon attended Beckville Schools before continuing his education at Panola College and East Texas Baptist University. On April 5, 1977, he married the love of his life, Sharon Renae Waits, in Carthage. They shared nearly 30 wonderful years of marriage before Sharon preceded him in death on December 8, 2006.

Jon spent many years working in the oilfield construction industry as a heavy equipment operator for Pierce Construction. He later found his calling in education, serving as a physical education teacher at Beckville I.S.D., where he also coached tennis, cross country, and volleyball. Throughout his career, he positively influenced countless students and athletes with his encouragement and dedication.

A lifelong resident of Panola County, Jon was a man who appreciated life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed watching westerns and took great pride in cheering on his children and grandchildren as they participated in youth sports. He was of the Baptist faith and was a longtime member of the former Calvary Baptist Church in Beckville.

In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Sharon, Jon was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Landrum and Jean Davis Thomas.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Kasie Wellborn and husband, EuJene, Cory Morris and wife, Lorianne, Jon "Ricky" Morris and wife, Roseann, Tisha Smith and husband, Steve, and Guy Lane Morris; grandchildren, Kalie Malone, Kiyah Russell and husband, Jordan, Cassie Bouchard and husband, Josh, Avery Morris, Major Morris, Zakary Morris, Tristan Morris, Alec Morris, Ryan Morris and wife, Raegan, and Madison Wilson; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Clifton Morris and wife, Glenda, Sarah Baker and husband, Dale, Deborah Shivers, and Belinda Tompkins; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Restland Memorial Park near Carthage under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
