Johnie L. Bright Broome, 64, of Tatum, TX, passed away on Tuesday evening, May 31, 2016, at her home in Tatum. She was born on Sept. 16, 1951, in Nacogdoches to the late Edmond and Johnie Sue Ballard Bright. She graduated from Longview High School with the class of 1981. She married Grady Michael Broome on April 29, 1967, in Tatum. She and her husband co-owned and operated Big Buck Country R.V. Park in Tatum. Mrs. Broome loved fishing, gardening, and cooking. She has lived in Tatum for the past 44 years, moving there from Kilgore. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Broome was also preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Wayne Broome and sisters, Brenda Easom and Barbara Farretta.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Broome of Tatum; son, Mike Broome, Jr. and wife Melissa of Overton; brother, Eddie Bright of Kilgore; sister, Gloria Balistreri of Hallsville; grandchildren, Jessica Broome Gasser, Brittany Broome, and Christopher Hayes; and great-grandchildren, Lacie and Kevin.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2016, at Lakeview Baptist Church with Pastor Ted White officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Tatum Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Terry Findley, Steve Trotter, Mike Thedford, Robert Garrett, Brad English, and Austin Gasser.
Honorary pallbearers are Bobbie Broome, Jim Broome, and Ralph Ellis.
