John L. Zamazal, 70, of Carthage, TX, passed away on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 28, 2021, in Longview, TX. John Louis Zamazal was born on Nov. 9, 1950, in El Campo, TX to the late Louis J. and Agnes Albina Zalman Zamazal. He graduated from Louise High School near El Campo with the class of 1969. John served in the U.S. Marines during Vietnam and was honorably discharged. He married Pencie Lorraine Brown on March 11, 1979, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Lake Jackson, TX. John enjoyed an extensive and successful career in the oil and gas industry. He loved working his J. Shiloh Cattle Ranch in the Del Ray Community of Panola County, TX. He moved to Carthage in 1993, from Saudi Arabia and was a member of St. William of Vercelli Catholic Church where he enjoyed working in the food bank outreach program and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Johnna Zamazal; and infant son, Derrick Zamazal.

Mr. Zamazal is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Pencie Zamazal of Carthage; son, Chad Zamazal of Carthage; daughter, Honey Bumstead and husband Tommy of Saudi Arabia; grandchildren, Blythe Bumstead and wife Janine, Ryan Bumstead and wife Jordan, Danielle Zamazal, Ashtyn Zamazal, and Riley Zamazal; great-grandchildren, Kayson, Kynsleigh, Asher, and Kai; and brother, Frank Zamazal and wife Linda of El Campo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at St. William of Vercelli Catholic Church with Father Steve Paradis officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment with Military honors will follow in Walton Cemetery in the Del Ray Community. The family will receive friends beginning at 6 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Tommy Bumstead, Blythe Bumstead, Ryan Bumstead, Riley Zamazal, Milton McNeely, Sr., Milton McNeely, Jr., Ricky McNeely, and Timothy McNeely.
