Obituary

John Orvin Yoes, age 84, of Tatum, Texas, passed away in his sleep at his home on Wednesday morning, April 19, 2023, at 3:05 a.m. due to complications from his battle with cancer. He was born on September 30, 1938, in Necessity, Texas to the late Charlie Robert and Hattie Leola Taylor Yoes. He graduated from high school in Breckenridge, Texas with the class of 1957. John served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He married Margo Loveunia Wilson on August 18, 1956, in Ardmore, Oklahoma and she preceded him in death on June 5, 2009, after 53 years together. John was a hard-working family man, who led an interesting life. He was both a musician and music producer who worked in many fields giving him knowledge of a wide range of subjects. John worked as a machinist at Glover Machine Shop in Dallas, Texas. He loved to be in nature and especially loved looking at old trees. He was beloved by his children as he was a loving and caring father. Family vacations were always a family road trip affair that created lasting memories for all. He always had an interesting story at hand about his past experiences, be it an Army story or a run in with Johnny Cash. He was a pleasure to converse with and be around. John joins his beloved wife Margo in the afterlife and will continue to watch over his family with her at his side. John was also preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn.

He is survived by sisters, Sheila and Velva; brothers, Roger and Donald; children, Rachel, Tonya, Norman, Felicia and husband Jr., Carla and husband Ray, and Crawford; grandchildren, James, Shawn, Tony, Tommy, Cody, Miranda, Christopher, and Lory Mae; and great-grandchildren, Kaiden, Scarlett, Seth, Madelynn, Harper Rose, Addison and Ashton.
