Obituary

A Mass of Christian burial for Mr. John Franklin Templin, age 72, of the Yarnell Community in Panola County, Texas, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2008 at St. William of Vercelli Catholic Church with Father Michael Adams officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Shalom Cemetery in the Yarnell Community. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday with a rosary service at 8:00 p.m. at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Templin passed away on Tuesday morning, October 7, 2008 at his home.

John Franklin Templin was born on May 4, 1936 in Hanover, Texas to John J. and Lillie Belle Thompson Templin. He graduated from Loyola College Prep School in Shreveport in 1954. He married Patricia Marie Bott on September 16, 1954 in Shreveport. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1954-1958 and was honorably discharged. Mr. Templin was a member of St. William of Vercelli Catholic Church in Carthage. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Fraternal Order of Police. Mr. Templin moved to the Yarnell Community in January of 1973 from Shreveport. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenneth Templin.

Mr. Templin is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia Templin of Yarnell; four sons, John Franklin Templin II and wife Melony of Keithville, Linton Matthew Templin and wife Kaye of Owingsville, KY, Terrel Raymond Templin of Yarnell, and Robert Alan Templin and wife Cherie of Whitehouse; three daughters, Joianne Doughty of Yarnell, Renee Duckworth and husband Rowland of Carthage, and Patti Tiller of Irving; three sisters, Billie Hardee and husband Jim of Darlington, SC, Sammie Lacy and husband Walter of Avinger, and Faye Eldridge and husband Maurice of Darlington; eighteen grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren. Mr. Templin is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.

Serving as pallbearers are Mr. Templin's grandsons: Michael Newman, Jr., Jeffrey Newman, Logan Doughty, John Templin, III, Luke Templin, Tobi Duckworth, Eric Duckworth, Jonathan Tiller, Joshua Templin, and Alan Templin.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you do a random act of kindness for a stranger in John's memory. The family requests any memorial contributions be made to St. William of Vercelli Catholic Church, 4088 NW Loop, Carthage, TX 75633.
