Obituary

Graveside services for Mr. John A. King, 88 of Beckville, TX will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2007 at Langley Cemetery with Brother Bruce Will officiating. Interment will follow the service under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Mr. King passed away on Wednesday morning, January 24, 2007 in Longview, Texas.

John Aloysius King was born on February 18, 1918 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island to Michael Joseph and Mary Elizabeth Joyce King. He attended Catholic School in Wilmington, Delaware. Mr. King served his country during World War II and was stationed at Pearl Harbor during the bombing on December 7, 1941. Mr. King married Velma Fay Allums on October 21, 1945 in Carthage, Texas. He worked for Santa Fe Railroad, LeTourneau Inc. in Longview, and The Texas Department of Corrections in Huntsville. He had lived in Beckville most of his life moving there in 1945 from Wilmington, Delaware. Mr. King was a member of the New Prospect Presbyterian Church in Beckville. He was preceded in death by his wife who passed away on June 29, 1982.

Mr. King is survived by two daughters, Patricia Smith and husband Don of Carthage and Cynthia Creel and husband Dave of Beckville; three grandchildren, Chad Smith and wife Meagan of Longview, Tracy Tillman and husband Eddie of Beckville, and Michael Creel of Longview; four great-grandchildren, Seth Smith, Sawyer Smith, Shepherd Smith all of Longview, and Kaitlyn Tillman of Beckville.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Chad Smith, Michael Creel, Eddie Tillman, Seth Smith, Herbert Allums, Bruce Allums, and J.B. Fite.
