John Charles Jameson, 72, of Tatum, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, May 6, 2017, at his home in Tatum, surrounded by his beloved family.  He was born on June 18, 1944, in Richmond, VA to the late Charles R. and Margaret Donnelly Jameson. He graduated from Tatum High School with the class of 1962 and earned several college degrees from East Texas State University in Commerce that included Masters and Bachelor level degrees in Social Work and Counseling. He spent the last twenty-two years with the love of his life Deborah Rust Jameson. He enjoyed spending time with his family, bragging about his grandchildren and always had a joke (or three) to share.  Mr. Jameson was a lifelong member of the Tatum United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie of Tatum; daughter, Juli Jameson and her husband Matt Hatch of Marshall; brother, Dan Jameson of Longview; sisters, Charlotte Hillin and husband Roy of Tatum, Suzanne Bozek and husband Greg of Cedar Hill, and Mary Margaret Rambo of Colleyville; grandchildren, Logan Jameson-Hatch and Sagan Lyra Jameson-Hatch; 8 nephews; 4 nieces; and 10 great-nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2017, at Tatum United Methodist Church with Rev. Dwain Smith officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Tatum Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Matt Hatch, Logan Jameson-Hatch, Wayne Hillin, Sean Hillin, Clint Jones, Gregory Bozek, Charles Rambo, Nick Jameson, and Aaron Rambo.

Honorary pallbearers are Dan Jameson, Les Jameson, Matthew Jameson, Greg Bozek, Roy Hillin, and Jim Higgins.
