John Roy Hester, 73, of Carthage, passed away on Thursday morning, Sept. 7, 2017, in Carthage.  He was born on Sept. 6, 1944 in Livingston, TX. to the late William Addison Hester and Ruby June Damon Hester.  He served in the U.S. Army for 24 years.  Mr. Hester enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising farm animals and going to the boats. He also enjoyed, and just had to have his Swisher Sweet cigars.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Regina Hester, who passed away Feb. 15, 2016, and his son, Jake Hester.

Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Warren; sisters, Gloria Smith and Karen Sue Damon; grandchildren, Justin Parker and Ayden Warren, and other family and friends.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
