John Albers, 72, of Carthage, Texas, passed away on Saturday morning, May 6, 2023, in Tyler, Texas. John Fredrick Albers was born on June 25, 1950, in South Haven, Michigan to the late Warren Fred and Marie Amalia Cerny Albers. He graduated from high school in Fennville, Michigan with the class of 1968. John married Lynda Marie Foreman on September 26, 1969, in Ganges, Michigan. While in Michigan, he was a member of the United Brethren Church. In 1976, he and Lynda moved to Carthage where they owned and operated J & L Geo Systems for 23 years. John worked for many years at Wal-Mart in Carthage as well. Whether he was greeting people at work or just out and about, John wouldn't hesitate to witness to people and share the salvation story of Jesus Christ with anyone who would listen. He enjoyed classic cars and tractors, gardening, working puzzles, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. John was a member and deacon at Friendship Baptist Church in the Riderville Community near Carthage and also attended Grand Bluff Baptist Church. John was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers; and 3 sisters.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Lynda Albers; sons, John Albers and wife Jeannie and Chad Albers and wife Tasha; grandchildren, Jason Albers and wife McKenzi, Annissa Johnston and husband Chadd, and Haylea Hudson; and great-grandchildren, Bryson and Kynnadi Albers. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many special friends and church family also survive.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at Friendship Cemetery with Bro. Bob Scott officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service on Sunday at the fellowship hall of Friendship Baptist Church. Cremation arrangements are by Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
