Joe Curtis Pierce, 82, of Lufkin passed away on Friday, April 8, 2016, in a Lufkin hospital. He was born on August 21, 1933, in Panola County to the late Paul and Ottie B. LaGrone Pierce. He resided in Lufkin most of his life. Joe served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, having been stationed in Alaska. Mr. Pierce retired from American Color Graphics, where he worked as a truck driver. Truck driving was his life. Joe was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife and the mother of his children, Mary Pierce; and his second wife, Freddie Kaye Pierce.
Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law, Gary Joe Pierce, Sr. of Lufkin and Greg and Cindy Pierce of Hudson; grandsons, Gary Joe Pierce, Jr. and wife Shay of Huntington; granddaughter, Amanda Pierce of Hudson; and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, Apr. 11, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Deadwood Cemetery.
