Obituary

Graveside services for Mr. Joe Roy McMillian, Jr., age 45 of Houston, Texas formerly of Carthage, Texas will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, May 27, 2006 at Walnut Grove Cemetery near Carthage with Reverend Kirthell Roberts delivering the Memorial Eulogy and Reverend J.T. Harris delivering the Christian Committal. The first visitation will be held on Friday evening form 6-7 p.m. in the Chapel of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. A second visitation will be held Saturday morning from 10:30-11:30 in the sanctuary of Walnut Grove Baptist Church. Mr. McMillian left for his heavenly abode on Monday, May 22, 2006 at 4:51 p.m. at St. Luke Hospital in Houston, Texas.
Joe Roy McMillian, Jr. greeted life on June 8, 1960 in Panola County, Texas as the oldest of three children born to Joe Roy McMillian, Sr. and Bonnie Raines McMillian. Mr. McMillian attended Turner Elementary School and graduated from Carthage High School in 1978. He attended Panola College and Texas A & M University at Commerce where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science in 1983. He went to R.E.T.F. Electronic School in Houston to further his technical knowledge of computers. Joe was a member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. He worked as a maintenance supervisor for New Choice Builders, Inc. where he has been employed since 1996. Joe has lived in Houston for the past ten years where he was a member of Lakewood Church. He was never married. Joe is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Mr. McMillian is survived by his parents, Joe Roy McMillian, Sr. and Bonnie Raines-McMillian of Carthage; one brother, Audray McMillian and wife Lisa of Houston; one sister, Beverly McDaniel and husband Foster of Gary; two nephews, Michael and Zachary McMillian of Houston; and one niece Mikaela McDaniel of Gary.
Serving as pallbearers are Alfred Brown, Osdale Brewster, Roy Lee Briggs, James Holmes, Roscoe Overton, and Tommy Jenkins. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Audray McMillian, Michael McMillian, Zachary McMillian, Foster McDaniel, Wade Raines, Jr., and Jimmy Raines.
