Joe Cheshire, 68, of Carthage, passed away on Thursday evening, May 3, 2018, in Shreveport. Joe Eddie Cheshire was born on Feb. 7, 1950, in Henderson to the late Alton Carroll and Bettie Sue Holland Cheshire. He attended Carthage Schools where he played football. Joe owned and operated Cheshire's Auto and Truck Repair and C&J Fireworks in Carthage for many years. He married Cathy Jo Dhonau on Feb. 20, 1986, in Arlington. Joe enjoyed working on cars and trucks, building jeeps, and racing. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy of Carthage; children, Mary Cheshire Garcia and husband Richard of Carthage, Tommy Johnston and wife Sara of Red Oak, and Toshia Hayden and husband Rocky of Carthage; grandchildren, Arron Garcia and wife Hallie, Abigail Garcia, Savannah Dillon, Tiffany Dillon, Julia Johnston, Trey Johnston, and Troy Johnston; great-grandchild, Adalynn Garcia; sister, Martha Melton of Carthage; aunt, Nelene Pike of Carthage; nieces, Lorie Melton, Tonya Cooke and husband John, and Marla Newell and husband Jeff all of Carthage; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews and many friends.

The family will receive friends for a visitation from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
