Jo Nell Williams, 92, of Beckville, TX, passed away on Wednesday morning, Aug. 16, 2023, at her home in the Harris Chapel Community. Jo Nell Chapman was born on Oct. 16, 1930, in Gregg County, TX, to the late James Taylor and Nellie Jane Bell Chapman. She graduated from Liberty City/Sabine High School with the class of 1949. She married Tommy Gene Williams, Sr. on Sept. 9, 1950, and he preceded her in death on July 31, 2020, after almost 70 years together. Mrs. Williams was a longtime and devoted member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in the Harris Chapel Community where she served in the Woman's Missionary Union (WMU) for many years. She also enjoyed making comfort dolls for needy children. Mrs. Williams was also preceded in death by her siblings, Roy Chapman, Lennie Potter, Vivian Walls, Liz Lively, and Mildred Maddox.
She is survived by her sons, Keith Williams and wife Patti and Gene Williams and wife Dee; grandchildren, Clint Williams, Katie Jo Davis and husband Mitch, Debbie Cannon and husband Calvert, and Valerie Rios and husband Victor; great-grandchildren, Ryan Cannon, Adam Brown, Jordan Rios, Olivia Griffin, Kinsley Lou Williams, and Myles Keith Davis; and great-great-grandchild, Kennam Brown. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends also survive.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Rosa Adams for the loving care provided to Mrs. Williams.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 18, 2023, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Bro. Danny Walls and Bro. Mike Powell officiating. Interment will follow in Harris Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Services are under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Clint Williams, Mitch Davis, Ryan Cannon, Will Cannon, Jordan Rios, and Adam Rogers.
Honorary pallbearers are the Deacons of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
