Jo Ann Hicks, 87, of Carthage, TX, passed away on Thursday morning, May 30, 2019, in Carthage. Jo Ann Johnson was born on May 3, 1932, in Spanish Fort, TX to the late Vernon Lee and Ida Faye Seamon Johnson. She married A.J. Hicks on March 31, 1951, in Dallas and he preceded her in death on Dec. 27, 1998. Mrs. Hicks moved to Panola County in 1960, and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by sons, David Ray Hicks, Robert Lee Hicks, Allen Joe Hicks, and Thomas Dale Hicks.

Survivors include son, Mark Edward Hicks and wife Joann of Carthage; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Hicks of Carthage; special friend, Louella Gates; grandchildren, April, Lisa Kay, Aaron, A.J., Tally, Clayton, Mark James, and Matthew; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends also survive.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2019, at Old Prospect Cemetery with Reverends Mary and Dwain Smith officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Chris Brinkman, Clayton Hicks, Ashton Franklin, Ashton Rickards, Auston Franklin, Matthew Hicks, Mark James Hicks, and Jared Riley.

Honorary pallbearer is Stoney Overstreet.
