Graveside services for Mr. Jimmy Bob Wallace, age 89, of the Centennial Community in Panola County, TX, will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at Centennial Cemetery with Rev. Mervin Scott and Rev. Dean Register officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Wallace passed away on Sunday evening, March 27, 2011, at his home.
Jimmy Bob Wallace was born on Nov. 14, 1921, in the Centennial Community to Wilburn Collier and Mary Anna Fonvill Wallace. He graduated from Greenwood Schools. Mr. Wallace served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII, where he was awarded a purple heart before being honorable discharged. He married Doris Geraline Mobley on Nov. 11, 1966, in Logansport, LA and she preceded him in death on Aug. 21, 2007. He owned and operated the Texaco Station in Bethany until his retirement. Mr. Wallace also worked as a farmer and rancher all of his life. He enjoyed gardening. He lived his lifetime in Centennial and was a member of the Shiloh Methodist Church. He was also preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Ida Thurese Sistrunk, Cloye Elizabeth Harris, Marianna Wallace, Mami Frances Fletcher, and Marjorian Jernigan; and one brother, Wilburn C. Wallace.
Mr. Wallace is survived by one daughter, Teresa Vaughn and husband Jerrold of Centennial; three grandchildren, LeAnne Vaughn Seals and husband Dellen, Jerrod Vaughn, and Rusty Phillips; one great-grandson, Brodey Seals; and a special friend, Robbie Harris of the Centennial Community. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mr. Wallace.
Serving as an honorary pallbearer is Rodney Russell.
