Jimmy Lee Greer, age 82, of Palm Springs, California, formerly of Panola County, Texas, passed away Thursday morning, January 29, 2026, in Redlands, California. Jimmy Lee Greer was born May 30, 1943, in Carthage, Texas to Finis and Lavell Greer. Born as a twin, Jimmy Lee Greer shared a unique and unbreakable bond with his twin brother Connie Lee Greer. A connection that only they understood. From childhood to adulthood, their lives were intertwined with love, laughter, strength and shared memories that will forever be cherished. Jimmy attended school in Carthage, Texas where he graduated from Turner High School in 1962.
Following graduation Jimmy proudly joined the United States Army, which took him to Germany where he served most of his career until he was honorably discharged in 1964.
After leaving the Army, Jimmy moved to Palm Springs, California where he met and married Betty Pellum his wife of 18 years and through this union one child Ellis Carlos Greer was born. Jimmy found employment at Desert Hand Laundry, Kelly Steak House, Canyon Hotel, and Luis Pantry as the Head Chef where he worked diligently for many years. His strong work ethic and dedication carried him through until his retirement from the Palm Springs Unified School District in 2015.
Jimmy married his childhood friend in 1992, Allie Mae Harris. Jimmy was a devoted and loving husband who cherished his wife beyond measure. Their love was a true partnership built on faith, loyalty, and unwavering commitment. He took great pride in caring for his wife and family ensuring they always felt protected and supported. As a grandfather his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life. He adored every moment spent with them offering his unconditional love that will remain in their hearts forever.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents Finis and Lavell Greer; son Ellis C. Greer; (2) sisters; Bessie Mae and Mary Louise Noiel, (3) brothers; Willie Joe Greer, Cleophus Greer, and Calvin Neil Greer.
Those left to Cherish his loving memory include his devoted wife, Allie Mae, twin brother Connie Lee Greer; (2) sisters; Gladys Rocquemore, and Janet Grisby; (5) sisters-in-law; (1) daughter-in-law; Sarah Allen-Greer, (4) grandchildren; Ryan Greer, Nicole Greer, Kourtney Greer, Brandy Greer, (3) great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A funeral service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 20, 2026, at the Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel in Carthage, Texas. Interment will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
