Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. Jimmie Earl Ishmael, age 67, of Bedford, Texas, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at Martin United Methodist Church in Bedord. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at Forest Ridge Funeral Home in Hurst. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Deadwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home in Carthage. Mr. Ishmael, a Christian, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at his Bedford home. Local arrangements are under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.

Jim was born Oct. 14, 1941, in Roseman, Ill., to the late Vernie and Ethel Ishmael. He graduated from Pana High School in 1959 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War as a crew chief in Guam. He married the love of his life on Nov. 4, 1961, Charlcie Brazzil. He worked several years at Braniff Airlines and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a National Pistol Silhouette champion and holds numerous senior state and national records. Jim served as a range officer and instructor at the Haltom City Rifle and Pistol Club. He was a proud member of Martin United Methodist Church and the Genesis Sunday School Class. Jim touched many people's lives and will be sorely missed. Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Charlcie Kay Ishmael; brother, Bub Ishmael; and sister, Bonnie Welch.

Survivors include his son, Marty Ishmael and wife, Susie, of Bedford; grandchildren, Tabitha Freeman of Red Oak and Cameron Ishmael of Bedford; great-grandchild, Riley Freeman of Red Oak; brother, Rick Ishmael and wife, Toni; sister, Jan Neece and husband, Donnie; mother-in-law, Gladys Brazzil of Carthage; sisters-in-law, Pam Brazzil of Carthage and Sherry Brazzil of Pensacola, Fla.; and numerous cousins and friends.
