Obituary

Jimmie Wayne Honeycutt, 79, of Carthage, TX, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 27, 2022, in Longview, TX. He was born on July 15, 1943, in Selma, AL to the late William Allie and Pearl Kane Honeycutt. Jimmie graduated from high school in Linden, AL with the class of 1962. He served from 1962-1966 in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Guam during the Vietnam War. Jimmie married Sandra Sue Erwin on April 9, 1966, in Houston, TX. He worked as a tanker man at Neches Butane in Port Neches, TX until his retirement in 1998. Jimmie earned an Associate's Degree with Honors in A/C and Refrigeration from Lamar Tech. He enjoyed traveling, camping, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jimmie moved to Carthage in 2020, from Bridge City, TX and was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Carthage. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Honeycutt.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Honeycutt; sons, Kevin Honeycutt and wife Leah and Kirby Honeycutt and wife Kristy; daughter, Heidi Fails and husband Gary; grandchildren, Maccie Hardin, Hannah Lewis and husband Logan, Colton Honeycutt, Peyton Fails, Kaden Honeycutt, and Olivia Fails; and great-grandchildren, Jackson, Tripp, and Maelyn.

A funeral service with Military Honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Kirby Hill and Charles Hunt officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.

Honorary pallbearers are Colton Honeycutt, Peyton Fails, Kaden Honeycutt, Kevin Honeycutt, Kirby Honeycutt, Gary Fails, and Logan Lewis.
