Obituary

On July 25, 2024, Albert "Jimmy" Quincy Watts met his journey's end with his family by his side. Born to Albert Purl Watts and Josephine Mills Watts on September 14, 1937, at the homeplace of his grandparents Roger and Leona Mills in Carthage. Jimmy is lovingly remembered by his two sons, Quintin Watts of Houston, Texas and Jason Watts and wife Silvie of Cary, North Carolina; grandchildren, Emeli Ojeda, Brandon Watts, and Joyce Watts; sisters, Emogene Clark and husband Michael of Carthage, Texas, Kathalene Hanel and husband Jack of Baytown, Texas, and Tylene Wilcox of Hankamer, Texas; nieces and nephews, Regana Clements, Taylor Wilcox, Cody Wilcox, Jacob Hanel, Khristina Hanel, and David Glenn Pelham; nine great nieces and nephews; and four great-great nieces and nephews. Jimmy was predeceased by nephew, Charles Clements; and parents, Albert and Josephine Watts.

Jimmy was known all over the world by different names. Albert, AQ, Jimmy, or Watts. He is known by some family members and locals to Carthage as "Poochie", but to his sisters, nieces and nephews, he is Bubba.Jimmy attended school in Shreveport, Louisiana while his father served in the US Army, stationed in Burma during World War II. Once his father returned from war, Jimmy and his parents settled in Anahuac, Texas for the rest of his childhood. He attended Anahuac schools, graduating from Anahuac High in 1955. His first job after graduating was on a survey crew as a draftsman. This job led him to a successful 30-year career in the pipeline industry. He attained the job titles of Engineer, Inspector, and Superintendent. Pipeline work carried him all over the world and across the US, more than once. He made his home in Carthage, Texas in 1987, and hung up his hard hat in 2010.

He lived for fast cars, motorcycles, travel, and beautiful women. He had many talents; he could paint, construct, whittle, saw, draw, and had the most beautiful cursive ever written. His steady hand painted flames and pinstriping across the south on cars and motorcycles well into the 2000's. His woodwork can be found in many of his family's homes; bookshelves, ornate boxes, gun racks, tables, chairs, rocking horses, and the most special, a bassinet that rocked many babies in his family to sleep.

Jimmy was a man in a class by himself, 86 years of a life well spent.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 29, 2024, at Clayton Cemetery under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Heartsway Hospice of Carthage. Thank you to the caring women who attended to Jimmy; Alysha Cockerham, Bobby Sue Helton, Angela Hurst, and Tiffani May.
