Jim Bowens, Jr., 59, of Long Branch, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023, in Long Branch. Jim was born on November 10, 1963, in Houston, Texas to Jim Bowens, Sr. and Lola Bell Simpson Bowens. He graduated with the Phyllis Wheatley High School Class of 1982, in Houston. Jim worked in security in the Houston area and was a retired field supervisor for the City of Houston. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.

Jim's survivors include his children, Jim Jermaine Fransaw, Latoya Fransaw, Jerald Wayne Fransaw, Eric J. Bowens, Sheria Bowens, and Ronesheia Luke; sisters, Linda Bowens, and Angela Edmond and husband Mark; aunts, Merlene Jackson and husband James, and Hester Lewis; uncles, Bobby Bowen, and W.T. Short and wife Betty; grandchildren, Karisma, Jermaine, Jeremial, Jerald, Jr., Jerrica, Desiree, and Ariel; and nephews, Roshad Washington and wife Bianca, and their children, Kyran, Kylah, Karmelo, Jaylen, and Christopher Bowens and wife Tiarra, and their children, Krishawn, Levi, Lexi, and Shana.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel.
