A funeral service for Mrs. Jettie Lee Conley, age 90, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Sammy Stephenson officiating. Interment will follow in Langley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Conley passed away on Tuesday night, Oct. 15, 2013, in Carthage.
Jettie Lee McCutchen Metcalf Conley was born on Aug. 22, 1923, in Gould, OK to Olen Roscoe and Lillie Mae Kelley McCutchen. She worked as a L.V.N. for many years until her retirement. Mrs. Conley loved flower gardening, crocheting, sewing, and more recently playing bingo at the nursing home. She moved to Carthage in the early 80's from Dallas and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Carthage. Mrs. Conley was preceded in death by her parents; four children, Kenneth Dale Metcalf, Robert Chester Metcalf, Linda Gail Metcalf Greene, and Willie Roscoe Metcalf; seven siblings, J.P. McCutchen, Edna, Conley, Peanut, Neva, Martha, and Pearl.
Mrs. Conley is survived by her son, Donald Metcalf of Carthage; one daughter, Lisa Conley Stapleton and husband, Michael of Ft. Wayne, IN; one sister, Opal Holmes and husband, James of Hereford; two daughters-in-law, Nita Metcalf of Carthage and Judy Metcalf of Hallsville; and a special uncle, Leon McCutchen and wife, Ada of Hereford. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Conley.
Serving as pallbearers are William Metcalf, Lomax Webb, Donnie Metcalf, Bob Walker, Jim Hooker, Buck Chambers, and Dean Stout.
